The American Women's Club in Denmark

The AWC is a non-profit, voluntary organization that provides social support to its members living permanently or temporarily in Denmark . Its activities promote mutual understanding between the US and Denmark . A primary purpose of the AWC is to raise money for philanthropy, cultural and educational awards. We encourage the American “spirit of volunteerism” among our membership by asking members to contribute time and energy to our fundraising and community efforts.

We have about 200 members, both men and women of numerous nationalities, though we are predominately American (65%) and predominantly women (95%).  We are a member organization of FAWCO, the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas. FAWCO is a non-government organization (NGO) comprised of 70 clubs with nearly 18,000 members combined in 35 countries worldwide. FAWCO supports the interests of Americans overseas in areas such as citizenship and voting. It supports worldwide development grants for causes related to the health and welfare of women and children and offers educational scholarships.
