The AWC is a non-profit, voluntary organization that provides fun, friendship and social support to its members living permanently or temporarily in Denmark and promotes mutual understanding between the US and Denmark, particularly through philanthropic work.
We raise money for annual philanthropic grants to projects in Copenhagen, tri-annual cultural awards to Americans in Denmark and tri-annual scholarships to Danes wishing to study in the United States. We encourage the American spirit of volunteerism among our membership by asking members to contribute time and energy to out fundraising and community efforts. If this sounds like fun to you, join us! You can e-mail us at membership@awcdenmark.org
We have about 200 members, both women and men, of numerous nationalities, though we are predominantly Americans (65%) and predominantly women (95%).
AWC is a member organization of FAWCO, the Federation of American Women's Club Overseas: a network of independent American and international volunteer organizations representing private-sector American citizens overseas.
It is a resource and channel of information for its member clubs, contributes actively to the global community and represents the interests of all Americans abroad. Founded in 1931, FAWCO has over 75 member clubs throughout the world with more than 15,000 members. A recognized non-governmental organization (NGO) since 1995, FAWCO was granted special consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the UN in 1997.

Happy holidays! Although we had a “green Christmas”, I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.
End of Immigrant Visa Services in Copenhagen
Due a region-wide reorganization, we will cease offering routine immigrant visa services in Copenhagen on December 31, 2011. As of January 2, 2011, most immigrant visa services will be transferred to Embassy Stockholm. We will continue to offer some limited immigration services—please visit our website for more information on what services we will continue to offer.
Election 2012
We continue to forward Federal Voter Assistance Program (FVAP) updates about special elections and primary elections to all registered Americans. Some states require an annual re-registration, so please ensure that you are properly registered as an absentee voter for the 2012 election cycle. Visit the FVAP at http://www.fvap.gov/ for more information and assistance, including links to the relevant election officials in all 50 states and the territories.
