American studies for kids (ASK):
A program for children of American heritage living in Denmark
Students will learn about American history, geography, traditions and culture through age-appropriate activities such as games, role play, crafts, songs and stories. Classes are taught in English by experienced American teachers.
ASK will be held within the after school activity
program (called “Fritids”) at Rygaards School, located
at Bernstorffsvej 54 in Hellerup. Fritids activities are
open to all children, regardless of which kommune
they live in or school they attend.
The class schedule will follow the school calendar, with two semesters. Currently, classes meet once per month for two hours (five times per semester) Saturdays 9-11. This is subject to change, depending on enrollment.
ASK is more than just participation in a class - it’s about community and identity. With this in mind, we gather together for additional social activities throughout the year such as softball, picnics and holiday celebrations. These events, held after or aside from the Saturday class, are optional.
